ESPN-Cricinfo World Test All-Time XI.

At-last,here are players selected by the WSPN-Cricinfo Jury members into the World Test All-time XI:
The World XI: Jack Hobbs, Len Hutton, Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards, Garry Sobers, Adam Gilchrist, Malcolm Marshall, Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, Dennis Lillee
Unlike the All-time XI selected for the Indian Test team, this one is a really good list;even though 6 of the players did not feature in my list submitted to Cricinfo;I would say those 6 are all as good,or maybe even better than the players selected by me in the list.Well, this is my Team:
OPENER
Graeme Smith
Virender Sehwag
MIDDLE ORDER
Brian Lara
Sachin Tendulkar
Sir Viv Richards
ALLROUNDERS
Sir Garry Sobers
Sir Richard Hadlee
WICKETKEEPER
Adam Gilchrist
BOWLERS
Glenn McGrath
Malcolm Marshall
Shane Warne

While the jury preferred to pick a 5 Specialist Batsmen+1 All-rounder+1 wicketkeeper+4 Bowlers' team, I selected a 5 Batsmen+2 All-rounders+1 Wicketkeeper+3 Bowlers' team, because I wanted Richard Hadlee in my team,he is the Greatest bowler ever, unfortunately slotted in the All-rounders' list.
The reason why I did not pick Don Bradman is very simple-if I have Don Bradman in my team, there's no need to pick 10 other Great players to win a match. :D I would have picked Sunil Gavaskar as the opener in my Team,if it wasn't for the superb match-winning 4th Innings knocks played by Graeme Smith in Perth,Melbourne,NewZealand and England.
I knew that Richard Hadlee, will not make it to the jury's All-time XI,as he's slotted in the All-rounders' list and it's obvious that everyone in the jury will pick only Gary Sobers as the first preference. :(
Regarding the jury's list, the only change I would like to make is replace Wasim Akram with Sir Richard Hadlee,as the latter has superb bowling figures in matches won by his Team.(Richard picks nearly 7-8 wickets in a winning Test Match.).
As expected Don Bradman,Gary Sobers and Shane Warne were all unanimously selected by the Jury(60 votes each),all in the First List. They deserve it,as Don is the greatest Batsman ever,Sir Gary-the Best All-rounder and Shane Warne-the Best Spinner ever.I thought Adam Gilchrist's achievements were good enough to easily walk into any Team's Playing XI,as a destructive Batsman cum Wicketkeeper, but it turned out to be a close fight between him and Alan Knott, looks like there were some purists, who preferred to have a technically 'Perfect' wicketkeeper.
Sachin has got the second highest number of votes(52),it's obvious that his superb recent form swung a lot of votes in favor of him, some of which might've gone to his peer Brian Lara,if this exercise was done in 2006.The relatively lesser number of votes bagged by Muttiah Muralitharan, meant that not many jury members appeared to be convinced by his Bowling action.

P.S:1. I was irked by some really stupid doubts asked by a CNN-IBN anchor to one of the Jury members,Ramachandra Guha. The question he asked was why Gilchrist was preferred over Dhoni or Sangakkara? That's one really rubbish question, first Sangakkara is not a regular Wicketkeeper for his Test team anymore-he's kept wickets for only 48 of the 90 odd Test Matches, played by him,and Dhoni is neither a better batsman(avge.-40 in Tests, which is less than Gichrist's 48,also Gilchrist can work well as an aggressive weapon,as he has scored some of the fastest 100s in Test Cricket.) nor has better stats as a Wicketkeeper, compared to Gilchrist.
That's just arguing for the sake of arguing!
A person, with a better cricket knowledge would've asked why Andy Flower, who averaged 53.7 with the bat in 55 matches as Wicketkeeping batsman, despite playing for a minnow team, was not even shortlisted.

2.I'm rather surprised that not many pointed out the absence of several reputed Wicketkeepers like Australia's Ian Healy,Rod Marsh and Jeff Dujon-West Indies team's Best wicketkeeper in the Shortlist (From, which the XI players are finally selected.),while including Rashid Laitf,Sangakkara and Jackie Hendricks in the list! I'm equally surprised that Aravinda deSilva with 20 Test centuries was not included in the Middle-Order shortlist, while Ranatunga(Who scored just 4 tons) was in the list.

Thanks for posting a comment, regarding the 52 votes-it means 9 of the jury members added him in the first list(5 points each) and 2 in the second list(3 pts. each).
So,I'm surprised that one of the 12 members found not eligible to be in either of the All-time XI lists!:O
